Search engine optimization or SEO is the process successful companies in all industries do to alter their websites to let search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo find their products and services. Despite the advertising potential found in programs like Google AdWords, it is a fact that that it is in the "organic" results found on the search engine results page that people trust most. 80 percent of the time searchers choose the organic results found in the search first. Organic results are what people believe not to be biased or tainted in any way by different forms of advertising or the search engines themselves. In these foundations sessions we are going to begin with a very unfriendly for search engine's webpage. We will then explore how to find out what people are doing to find you and your competitors. Finally we will make the practical changes to build its search engine appeal and accurately measure the improvements. The techniques covered here do not require any technical background beyond the most basic computer skills, nor is there any need to own any special application to create a well optimized webpage.
